Is this course right for me?

If you are passionate about a career in hairdressing this course will teach you skills and knowledge you need to become fully qualified and gain an exciting job in the industry.  Your skills will enable you to take a client on a journey from entering the salon, to carrying out a range of different techniques such as colouring, cutting and styling and recommending and selling the correct products to them.  You will also learn important customer service skills and gain an understanding of health and safety in the workplace.  To enhance your learning, you will also get chance to take part in enrichment weeks during which you will be able to learn new techniques, take part in competitions, and complete additional short courses in areas that would be useful to you in the industry, such as hair extensions, wedding hair, crative styling, balayage and ear piercing. You will also complete 30 hours of work experience in a salon and attend lessons to improve your English and maths (or use the time for directed study if you already have Grade 4 or above).    On completion of the course you will be able to apply for a job in the industry or progress to a higher level qualification.   Please note: you will be expected to arrange the work experience placement yourself and will also be required to purchase your own hairdressing kit, costing approximately £180, as well as a college-braded uniform costing approximately £50 - order forms will be provided before the start of the course and financial support may be available to help with these costs. Also, if you earn less than £30,000 per year and aged 19 or over, you could study this course for FREE!
