Kick start your career in the automotive industry with this our entry-level diploma. This practical-based pre-apprenticeship programme will give you a broad understanding of skills across a range of specialisms including light vehicle service and repair, body repair techniques, body re-finishing and vehicle construction, as well as the use of tools and equipment and the importance of health and safety in the workplace. On successful completion of the course you will be able to progress to a Level 1 Diploma in Automotive or apply for an apprenticeship in the industry. *** Advanced Technology and Automotive Centre now open!***  You will train at the new purpose-built £8.1 million purpose-built https://www.wolvcoll.ac.uk/our-college/campus-transformation/atac/Advanced Technology and Automotive Centre at the https://www.wolvcoll.ac.uk/our-college/find-us/Wellington Road campus, in Bilston, which boasts a 12-bay automotive workshop, a drive-in electric vehicle lab containing simulated training boards, a four-wheel laser alignment machine, and ADAS and Bosch diagnostic equipment.

Entry Requirements: To access this course you will be required to: Attend an interview at the college Complete an online assessment to determine your current skills and knowledge You must demonstrate that you have a good understanding of verbal and written English

What will I learn? During the course you will study a range of modules from the following selection: Introduction to vehicle engine lubrication systems Introduction to vehicle engine cooling systems Introduction to vehicle fuel and exhaust systems Introduction to vehicle spark ignition systems Introduction to vehicle electrical systems Introduction to vehicle braking systems Introduction to vehicle transmission systems Introduction to vehicle steering and suspension systems Introduction to vehicle wheels and tyre systems Introduction to principles of vehicle body and interior cleaning

What skills will I gain? During the course you will: Gain a basic understanding of the automotive industry Develop knowledge of how to carry out basic vehicle checks & repairs Learn how to carry out vehicle valeting Learn the basic principles of vehicle construction Gain knowledge of how engines work Understand the use and maintenance of tools Gain an understanding of the importance of health and safety in the workplace

How will I be assessed? Throughout the course you will be assessed in the following through observation in practical sessions, written assessments, assignments, research and online tests.
